A family is seeking answers after they said a City of San Benito- contracted landscaper ran over and killed their dog with a tractor.

The incident occurred on Friday, Oct. 4, at around noon as a man contracted by the city was cutting the grass in an empty lot located on the 600 block of North Dick Dowling Street.

According to 26-year-old Steven John Lerma, the landscaper was cutting the grass on an empty lot next to his father’s house when the tractor crushed their dog’s head as it slept.

Very sad indeed; I must mention that my beloved Siberian husky was lying on our side of the property when her skull was obliterated by the tractor blades. I always maintain a low cut lawn for my elderly father so the fact that my family member was overlooked mistakenly is unacceptable!!
