How many people can say they have attended the Los Fresnos PRCA Rodeo consecutively for the past 22 years? Juan Garcia is one man who can say so.
Born and raised on a farm outside the city limits of San Benito, Garcia, 53, remembers his love for agriculture started back to his younger days. While he was growing up, he helped his father on the farm until he was 18.
“I was in FFA (Future Farmers of America) in high school,” Garcia said.
Though he lived near San Benito, outside the city limits, he attended Los Fresnos High School. Along with FFA, he ran track for three years in high school.
After high school, Garcia got into the farming business.
“I raise corn, sorghum, sugar cane and cotton,” Garcia said. “I first worked on my dad’s farm, but I got my own land.”
