LOS FRESNOS – Precinct 6 Cameron County Deputy Constable Francisco Saldaña was arrested in Los Fresnos Tuesday for three separate charges, including assault on a public servant.
“Our police department got a call for an incident that was occurring at AJ’s Sports Bar, located on 717 W. Ocean Blvd.,” said Mark Milum, Los Fresnos City Administrator and spokesperson for the Los Fresnos Police Department. “When the two officers got there, the initial altercation was done and those guys had already left. But the security guard told the officers that when he was trying to make the 9-11 call, the suspect grabbed the phone from him and talked to the people from 9-11.”
Milum said that when the security guard tried to get his phone, the suspect allegedly grabbed him by the throat and pushed him against a car. The incident was said to have occurred early Saturday morning at around 2 a.m. According to an arrest report, Saldaña allegedly told the security guard, “Don’t (expletive) step over my boundaries again. I am with county, (expletive).” It is unknown whether or not Saldaña was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
