Five San Benito Greyhound varsity football players will be suiting up for an annual All-Star football game this weekend.
Seniors Kian Jones, Victor Rodriguez, Alex Munoz, Luis Balli, and Eduardo Cuevas were selected to play in the East-West All-Star Game at Bobby Lackey Stadium in Weslaco on Jan. 10.
This is part of the Rio Grande Valley Coaches Association, and selections differ from all-district selections.
“Once again, other coaches around the RGV have recognized our young men and their football talents,” San Benito Head Coach Dan Gomez said. “We are very fortunate to have all five of the nominations be selected.
San Benito has always had representation in the game, which the West won last year, 17-10.
“These players put themselves in positions to be recognized by working hard and displaying what a good teammate is all about,” Gomez said. “We are proud and excited to see our athletes participate this Saturday in Weslaco, representing not only the East side of the RGV but also representing the purple and gold, the Greyhound Way.”
