The City of San Benito is hosting its inaugural Veterans Day Festival on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the San Benito Fairgrounds, located at 25699 Cesar Gonzalez Parkway.
The event starts a new community tradition that honors local veterans and celebrates their service and sacrifice.
According to event organizer and San Benito Commissioner Pete Galvan, this year’s festival showcases the city’s renewed dedication to honoring those who have served.
“To my knowledge, this is the first year we will be hosting a Veterans Day Festival,” Galvan said. “We honored veterans this morning (November 11) at the Veterans War Memorial as we normally do, but this year we wanted to really show our appreciation for their sacrifices and hold a large-scale event. We want our veterans to know they are not forgotten.”
The evening will start with a presentation from 5 to 5:45 p.m., followed by live performances from 6 to 9 p.m., featuring talented students from the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District.
Performers include Mariachi Del Sol, Estudiantina, Flamenco, Conjunto Estrella, Ed Downs Fine Arts Academy, BCMS Band, BCMS Choir, and the SBHS NJROTC.
Their performances will create a patriotic atmosphere for the evening, highlighting the pride and talent of San Benito’s youth.
Along with the student performances, the celebration will feature a free community concert and a selection of local vendors offering food and family-friendly activities throughout the fairgrounds.
Residents are encouraged to bring their families, friends, and lawn chairs to enjoy an evening of music, community, and appreciation under the stars.
Galvan said the festival is about more than just entertainment — it’s about unity and gratitude. “The community enjoys many liberties, such as the right to vote, free speech, and the right to assemble, because of their dedication to protecting our freedoms,” he said. “This is how we honor our hometown heroes.”
The City of San Benito invites everyone to attend and participate in what organizers hope will become an annual tradition of community pride and remembrance for those who have served.
