The San Benito City Commission convened on June 17 at the San Benito Municipal Building for the commission’s regular meeting.
Public comments opened the meeting, with representatives from humanitarian organizations Sunshine Haven and CASA speaking to the commission.
A presentation by Deborah Morales recognized several distinguished women with awards during the session. Parks and Recreation announced upcoming Movies at the Park events, with the first scheduled at the San Benito Cultural Heritage Museum.
The commission approved several consent agenda items, including a Conditional Use Permit request by Sergio Guerra to sell alcohol at a Mobile Food Truck Park located at 1939 West Business 77. Also approved were infrastructure requests for subdivisions, including water line development for The Cross Corner Subdivision by Spirit II Family, LLC, and public infrastructure plans for San Sebastian Subdivision Phase I and B77 Subdivision Phase A.
Additional approvals included the May 20 regular meeting minutes, amendments to fire hydrant installation fees, the purchase of laptops for the police department, repair payments for a sewer truck, advertising expenses for Hog Waddle 2025, and the awarding of a bid for professional engineering consultant services.
The commission also considered appointments to the Traffic and Safety Advisory Board, discussing reappointments and new members for Places 3 and 4, terms running from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028.
Further updates included reports on water tower rehabilitation and a proposed schedule for community meetings regarding a master park plan to gather public input on recreational spaces.
