A federal agent residing in San Benito was indicted on child pornography charges this week on the heels of his arrest at his Resaca City home in late March.
On March 25, and as previously reported by the NEWS, federal authorities raided the San Benito home of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent accused of processing improper sexual materials involving children.
Eduardo Longoria Jr., of San Benito, was arrested after federal investigators allegedly discovered that he was in possession of child pornography, which was reportedly found on his personal cellphone, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Documentation filed by the feds indicates that Longoria admitted to downloading and possessing child pornography for several years and was allegedly found in possession of over 100 files.
The criminal complaint indicates that Synchronoss Technologies, a cloud-based storage platform for Verizon Wireless, reported an account to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) for suspected child pornography.
According to the complaint, NCMEC volunteers were able to confirm the uploaded files were alleged child porn and the listed phone number for the account belonged to Longoria.
Investigators with the Department of Homeland Security and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) then reviewed those files.
The complaint went on to read that on March 25, 2025, DHS and HSI executed a search warrant at Longoria’s home. A preliminary search of his phone showed files of child pornography stored in a fake calculator application that can secretly hide photos, videos, and other files. The app is disguised as a calculator and can only be accessed through a passcode.
Longoria allegedly admitted to possessing child pornography and was placed under arrest, according to the complaint.
According to court records, Longoria was given a $50,000 bail. He made bail on March 28 and is scheduled for arraigned on April 24.
