BROWNSVILLE, TX—The Rio Hondo Bobcats defeated the San Perlita Trojans last week and lost once this week to another non-district foe to improve their overall record to 11-4.
Eight different Bobcats scored a run against San Perlita with junior Juan Padilla leading the team with three.
Padilla and junior Marcus Flores earned two RBIs each. Senior Aiden Flores had a triple.
Flores, seniors Ruben Castellanos and Cesar Perea each went 3-for-3 in batting. Rio Hondo had seven stolen bases.
The Bobcats last game came in the form of a 5-4 loss. Rio Hondo also played La Villa this week but the score was not available by press time.
The Bobcats begin District 32-3A play by hosting Valley View at home, on March 18.
The Rio Hondo Lady ’Cats, meanwhile were challenged in a big way the past couple of weeks as they played against schools with larger classifications, giving them three consecutive losses.
Their games were against Los Fresnos (7-5 score), Brownsville Hanna (14-4 score), and this week against Brownsville Veterans Memorial (16-1), all of them Class 6A schools.
The Lady ’Cats sport a 2-8 season record with their District 32-3A opener against the Lyford Lady Bulldogs away on March 18.
