Bike tour postponed

Earlier this week, the San Benito Chamber of Commerce announced that the 7th Annual Resaca City Bicycle Tour, originally scheduled for this Saturday, was been postponed.

Chamber leaders say that after careful consideration of the weather forecast and taking into account the increasing concerns raised by community members, the San Benito Chamber of Commerce made the decision to postpone the event to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

The forecast predicts a notable increase in cold temperatures and heavy rain on the originally scheduled date. The Chamber’s top priority is the well-being of the riders and ensuring that they have a positive and memorable experience while exploring city landmarks, read a Chamber statement.

“Given the current weather conditions, and the potential impact on visibility and safety, we believe it is in the best interest of all participants to reschedule the bike tour,” a Chamber email reads.

The new date for the 7th Annual Resaca City Bike Tour will be Saturday, March 16, 2024. Chamber leaders believe that by postponing the event, there is a greater chance of providing riders with better weather conditions, allowing for a more enjoyable and comfortable ride.

“We understand that this change may inconvenience some of you, and we want to thank you for your understanding. Your safety and the overall experience of the bike tour are our primary concerns. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work towards ensuring a fantastic event for everyone involved,” the email continues.

Chamber officials further asks participants to stay tuned for further updates and details regarding the rescheduled event. Questions or concerns can be addressed at (956) 626-2559 or info@chamberofsanbenito.com.

The Chamber had tremendous success at the same event in 2023 with over 125 cyclists participating. “This also means 150 plus people staying, eating, and shopping in our beautiful city of San Benito,” the email concludes.

Again, the event will now take place on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Heavin Resaca Trail at 7 a.m. The tour features a 20-mile, 44-mile, and 60-mile ride. T-shirts will be provided to the first 200 registrants, and medals will be given to all participants.

According to the Chamber’s website, the core purpose of the San Benito Chamber of Commerce is to foster, enable, and facilitate the success of local businesses so the community can be financially healthy and all the people living, working, and playing in San Benito can enjoy a higher quality of life.

The Chamber’s work focuses on attracting visitors to the City of San Benito and encouraging them to patronize the businesses, services, and attractions offered by Chamber members.

The Chamber continues to inform residents about the importance of a strong local economy. The Chamber is a 501 c6 non-profit organization.
