Husband calls 911 on wife

A 30-year-old San Benito woman is behind bars after her husband called 911, saying she allegedly took his father’s vehicle without authorization.

According to a Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) report, on Monday, December 25, 2023, at approximately 2 p.m. Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence on the 32000 block of Barlow Rd. in San Benito.

Upon arrival, the report reads, sheriff’s deputies made contact with a 34-year-old male complainant. The complainant reported that he was at the residence doing some work for the homeowner and had arrived in his father’s vehicle.

The complainant told the deputies that while he was working, his wife, identified as 30-year-old Cora Barron in the report, arrived at the residence and allegedly took the keys from inside his father’s vehicle without authorization. The complainant reported that Barron sent him a text message asking how he was going to get home.

Sheriff’s investigators assigned to the case obtained a witness statement from the homeowner who reported seeing Barron at her residence on the day the keys were allegedly stolen.

Sheriff’s investigators then made contact with the owner of the vehicle, the complainant’s father, who requested to file charges against Barron for allegedly burglarizing his vehicle. Sheriff’s investigators obtained a warrant of arrest authorizing the apprehension of Barron for the offense of Burglary of a Vehicle.

The report went on to indicate that on January 17, 2024, sheriff’s deputies arrested Barron and transported her to the Cameron County Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito pending arraignment. Barron is charged with the offense of Burglary of a Vehicle, TPC: 30.04, a Class “A” Misdemeanor.
