RIO HONDO, TX—On September 28, 2023, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Huie Rd., in the Rio Hondo area, in reference to suspicious activity by three male subjects.
As per the 911 caller, the three males parked in an empty lot and were allegedly loading and unloading items from their vehicle.
Upon arrival, the deputies established contact with the male suspects, and were able to confirm one of the males was the owner of the empty lot.
According to a Cameron County Sheriff’s Office report, as the deputies conducted a name inquiry on all three suspects, one of the actors was shown as having an outstanding warrant out of Cameron County for Theft of Property and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. The male was identified as John Stephen Hollinger, 26-years-old, of San Benito.
As the deputies placed Hollinger in custody, he allegedly admitted to having narcotics in his back pocket. After a quick search, the deputies allegedly located a clear plastic baggie with a white powdery substance. After further testing, the substance tested positive for cocaine.
