The San Bento City Council has approved a resolution for an accord with the local school district to hold a joint election on May 6. Several city and school board spots will be up for grabs on that day. That includes the mayoral and Places 1 and 2 commissioners’ seats.
On the school board, several seats will be decided by the voters including the board president slot.
The board approved the resolution during a special meeting held Tuesday, Feb. 28.
In other actions, the board heard a presentation on delinquent tax collections from Linebarger, Goggan, Blair and Sampson for the period Oct. 1, 2022, through Dec. 31, 2022.
It also gave its ok to another resolution authorizing City Manager, Manuel De La Rosa to submit a grant application to the U.S. Department of Transportation under 023 Department of Transportation’s National Infrastructure Investments Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) in the amount of $12,475,000 for the Stenger Road reconstruction, pedestrian and drainage project.
Contracts with Heart of America Shows to host a carnival at the San Benito Fairgrounds and a client agreement with Top Box Entertainment for ticketing services at the Hog Waddle Concert were also approved by the council.
The council voted to make a payment of $26,050 for professional services to Hanson Professional Services, Inc., pertaining to the engineering, design and bidding phase of the Landrum Lift Station located at 400 Landrum St. and to buy a prefabricated structure from Mueller, Inc., in the total amount of $13,284.72.
