Multiple area arrests made

Cameron County Sherriff Deputies responded to multiple and separate calls this past week which led to arrests.

MALE ARRESTED
On February 7, 2023, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 3300 Block of FM 2520 in San Benito in reference to an alleged aggravated assault.

According to a Cameron County Sherriff’s Office (CCSO) report, prior to the deputies’ arrival, the victim advised Cameron County Dispatch that he had been pinned to a vehicle.

Upon arrival, the deputies interviewed the victim who complained of pain to his right knee, right arm and right lower abdomen. As per the victim, as he was visiting a friend at the aforementioned address, he was about to leave the property and suddenly, he was pinned to his vehicle by a Red Ford Ranger.

According to the CCSO report, as the victim was pinned to his vehicle, he yelled at the driver of the Ford Ranger to stop; instead he allegedly accelerated and spun his tires. The actor then reversed, crashed into a tree and then fled the scene, according to the CCSO.

Throughout the investigation, the deputies were able to obtain a witness statement that corroborated the victim’s story.

Furthermore, the deputies were able to identify the suspect as German Zuniga, 33 years old.
With the assistance of the Los Indios Police Department, Zuniga was apprehended at his residence located on the 500 block of Del Rio Dr. in Los Indios.

Zuniga was arrested and charged with AGGRAVATED ASSAULT W/DEADLY WEAPON (Second Degree Felony). Zuniga’s Red Ford ranger was impounded for investigation purposes.

Zuniga was transported and booked into Carrizalez-Rucker Detention Center (CRDC) in Olmito.
An investigation is ongoing.
