Musician shows ‘power of music’

Many South Padre Island locals, Winter Texans and especially Lobo Del Mar Café regulars easily recognize the name Brett Marshall.

He is a multifaceted musician residing in the Lower Laguna Madre, where he plays piano for Chapel by the Sea and weekly gigs at the aforementioned waterside café and other locations throughout the Valley.

Marshall, 58, is reviving his annual winter concert, which has previously drawn up to 500 audience members, for the 11th time, after a two-year hiatus. On Saturday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m., music lovers can catch Brett

Marshall in Concert at Fun N Sun Dance Hall, in San Benito.

Marshall will be accompanied by a special guest singer, Ashley Flores, four members of his band, REWIND, a three-piece horn section, two percussionists and a keyboard player.

“It’s very unique because of the size of the band,” said Marshall. “We really enjoy making music.”
