An attempt to remove Manuel De La Rosa from his job as San Benito city manager went a step further as a group of concerned citizens voiced their opinions before the city commission. Five people took the podium to lambast De La Rosa as another group wearing patriotic T-shirts describing their support for the embattled official sat quietly.
Outside city hall, another group protested carrying banners. One read, “Cruel Manuel.”
A concerned citizen claimed De La Rosa is making arbitrary decisions concerning building and development rules and running city government as his private business. “He is running a citywide scam,” Santiago Perez said. “We have the wrong city manager here who is increasing fees here and there to get revenues.”
He said he has been trying to build a house but has run into one barrier after another. Perez said he has dealt with three inspectors, paid a $50 fee but his project was denied. “This is a scam,” he said. “I am going nowhere because of their incompetence.”
Alejandro Leal, another concerned citizen, said the rules of law don’t apply here. He said there is no accountability, open government, accessibility, or justice under the current administration.
John Goodman said the city hall needs to get beyond its personal agendas.
He said the city manager has been doing good things but the damages made to the community are more than clear. Goodman then called for a change of the city’s government, even if it takes removing De la Rosa.

Sounds like the Resaca City needs to drain the swamp.
