Entering a contract with local vendors was one of the items the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District Finance Committee heard and discussed at Tuesday’s March 1 meeting.
Vicki Perez, the district’s assistant superintendent of finance & operations, said their office has a list of businesses that are not associated to a cooperative and their work with the district is in good standing.
She said each contract is good for a year but it can be extended to two additional years with board approval. The vendors sought are for maintenance-related needs.
Another agenda item dealt with providing internal connections districtwide.
The project is expected to cost more than $1.1million but under the terms of a grant, the district is to provide 15 percent of the cost, or $425,243.92.
The project calls for having wireless access points, network switches and firewall to be installed by two companies – Insight and Netsync.
