Despite rumors circulating online, San Benito Head Coach Dan Gomez confirmed this week that he has no intentions of going anywhere. It was first reported last week that Gomez had applied for the vacant head coach position at PSJA North and then later that he turned down that offer. According to Gomez however, he never applied for the job at all.
“I never applied for that job in the first place,” said Gomez. “I plan on staying here in San Benito for as long as I’m wanted.”
After the reports surfaced on the internet, dozens of Greyhound fans showed their support for Gomez saying things like, “I hope he doesn’t go” and “He’s a great coach, I hope we keep him in San Benito.” While Gomez says he doesn’t keep up with news on social media, he acknowledged that any support from the community is well appreciated.

The O C is former Hrl South head coach, Gilbert Leal. BTW, it is a fact the HTC did inquire about North job on the condition it would not be published.

unofficial realignments were made before the christmas school break. perhaps coach gomez did make off the book inquiries into other job positions knowing that weslaco, weslaco east, harlingen, & los fresnos would all be in the same district as san benito. perhaps not. who knows. regardless, thats 5 strong quality playoff caliber teams but only 4 spots. it should be interesting.

changing the subject, i did notice in the article pertaining to the realignment that Ramiro Partida was labeled as the Athletic Director and Dan Gomez was labeled as the Head Coach. was there a change made that i haven’t heard about or is this a typo?

ps. who is the excellent offensive coordinator you mention but fail to mention in your comment bat?

The offense cordinator is the coach who directs the offense which consists of the quarterback, , running back, tighend which is always open & receivers. SB needs a tight end on offense maybe even two one on each side. I did not realize i failed at anything what is it that you do not understand 326a?

I didn’t ask what an offensive coordinator is. I asked: “who is the excellent offensive coordinator you mention but fail to mention in your comment bat?” So technically, your comment did fail, and your reply to my comment failed at everything. EVERYTHING!

        1. Fooled you 326a. I did not fail at mentioning anyone in my comment. My comments where meant not to mention anyone. You must have played Center in football. Looking back under your legs can have that effect when you read.

Keep building. Recruit. Start playing sophomores in varsity level. Have forsight mix players by playing both ways or differant positions they could inprove on. Pounding the ball with big running backs with big fast defense ends. Place size where it matters caoch them with the desire to win.
Many state championships are won with one runnig back or a QB with excellent receivers . Build a program for condioning the offense line and deffence line zero fat tolerance. 13-0 is not easy. One you get past the third round the players get BIGGER AND FASTER. But if SB plays every game as if they are playing the Harlingen Cardinals..WoW That kind of play was what lacking against Clements. Foucusing on Conditioning, conditioning, conditioning, conditioning every player individually in the off season. Right now you have an excellent offense coordinator and coaching staff.

Coaches do you know where your players are at now?
