The chances of winning are somewhere around 1-in-293 million, according to lottery officials. Still, that hasn’t stopped local citizens from going into an absolute frenzy over the recent Powerball jackpot. After nobody claimed the $500 million prize on Wednesday, the jackpot has been adjusted to roughly $800 million for Saturday with a cash value of $496 million. That’s, by far, the largest in the history of the lottery.
“You have no idea… the line was insane and it was all for that Powerball,” said a local cashier. “They actually had to call me in early for work because of how busy they were and that was when it was at $500 million… I can’t even imagine what it will be like on Saturday when they do the next one.”
