Elks Lodge program continues to make big impact for local families during holidays

The Elks Lodge of San Benito reprised its role as an early Santa Claus this past Saturday, donating staple assortments of food and necessities to 12 families with special needs children or with veterans, a meaningful association with the 12 days of Christmas.

It’s a holiday assistance program called “The Elks Christmas Baskets,” and for over 15 years, members of the Elks Lodge collect food and money to assemble gifts for families in need. Unlike most food collections, however, the members of the lodge organize a particular list of items to purchase.
