The San Benito Police Department, along with the Union, held their second annual toy drive this past Saturday and according to officers, it was even more successful than last years. Police Union President Carlos Romero reported over 1,200 toys raised and an additional $500 in monetary collections.
The police toy drive coincided with businesses, organizations and citizens alike in what turned out to be an overwhelming city-wide effort to raise toys for needy children. From bikers delivering toys, to a local head start, to public schools, to even here at the NEWS office, hundreds of people came together for the cause.
