Almost seven months ago, the San Benito City Commission and the San Benito Economic Development Corporation (EDC) announced their plans to bring a new $19 million hotel and conference center to San Benito. In their initial announcement, contractors said they would be able to break ground on the new project as early as October of this year. Unfortunately, as we enter December, legal issues continue to delay the long awaited project.
Still, City officials maintain that the project should be able to start no later than January and that the only delay is the legal process amongst investors.

I second that emotion Joevette. The Mayor recently stated that the city is in “good health” financially. Well, do the streets of San Benny qualify as part of the city? This is a rhetorical question. Of course they do. Then the city is not healthy at all. When the majority of the residents of San Benito have a Loan Star Card to buy food tells me that the city is very, very sick. For a city to be “well”, you need a vibrant central business district and the majority of the population working a JOB. Neither of those exist. If this city were a person, they would be comatose on life support.
True that Joevette
FORGET ABOUT THIS STUPID HOTEL PROJECT THE CITY NEEDS TO FIX THE STREETS OF THE COMMUNITY. AND AS FOR THE HOTEL PEOPLE WILL NOT VISIT THE CITY OR WANT TO STAY ONCE THEY DRIVE DOWN OUR STREETS.
