Just to put in to perspective how big of an impact the death of 2009 San Benito High School graduate Rosemary Vela had on this community, let’s just say her story was shared and viewed online more than any other story in San Benito News history.
As of press time last night, her story on our website
alone, had reached nearly 20,000 views, shattering the previous story’s record by over 6,000, with a few hours still left in the day. The most viewed story previously was the stabbing-death of 19-year old Christopher Gallegos back in June. But again, that was just our website.
Across Facebook, twitter, as well as other news publications, the story easily reached hundreds of thousands of people nationwide, and especially struck an emotional cord with law enforcement agencies across the states.
