Early last Tuesday morning, around 2.a.m to be exact, police got a call in reference to a suspicious man carrying around a trash can in a residential area. When officers arrived to the location in Sage Circle, they ran into 40-year-old Ismael Sauceda who had over a thousand dollars of stolen equipment in that trash can, police said.
Sauceda allegedly told officers that he found the trash can on the side of the road and put it in the back of his truck to take home. “At first we were just going to arrest him for stealing the trash can,” said San Benito Police Detective Rogelio Banda. “It wasn’t until one of the officers looked inside the trash can that we saw he was actually stealing catalytic convertors,” added Banda.
