After 7 years of service with the City of San Benito, City Manager Manuel Lara was found dead in his home Sunday morning after what is initially being reported as a heart attack. According to Judge Lupe Ayala, the 60-year-old Lara was found unconscious on his recliner by his 11-year-old daughter, who reported the death.
Ayala, who was the responding Judge and pronounced Lara dead at 10:02 am, has ordered an autopsy to make sure there are no extenuating circumstances. “It’s being reported that he just had a heart attack, but nobody can really know for sure until after the autopsy,” said Ayala. “It’ll take about 2 or 3 days but then we’ll know for sure what happened here.”
