He’s trained with MMA legend Wanderlei Silva, currently training with 4-time boxing world champion Joel “Cepillo” Casamay, and has even traveled to Amsterdam to work on his craft. Although he is from San Benito, he currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada and, oh yeah… he’s fighting for a championship belt in several weeks. With a combined 20 years of training in MMA and Tae Kwon Do, Montalvo has been able to make a strong impression on the MMA world, even getting some words of support from Silva himself. “I trained with Wanderlei because when I took a vacation to Las Vegas I stopped by his gym and the sparring was super hard,” said Montalvo. “It was basically a fight to the death… Wanderlei himself actually told me that he thought I was good for the team.”
