A San Benito teenager is in critical condition after being stabbed at a graduation
party early Sunday morning in San Benito. Christopher Gallegos
According to Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio, two brothers, 19-year old Christopher Gallegos and 21-year old Sergio Gallegos were rushed to Harlingen Medical Center after they were involved in a fight off the 3000 block of McCullough Street. Sergio Gallegos is believed to have been released already, however, Christopher is still in critical condition, he said.
The event, which unfolded out on the street, was chaotic as more than 5 Sheriff Department units arrived, taping off the scene in search of evidence, and questioning everyone they could, including the owners of the house and the individual who the party was for.
Teenagers and other party-goers fled the scene in flocks, looking to avoid police contact, possibly due to underage alcohol consumption.
Several individuals have been brought in for questioning, but nobody has been arrested as of yet.
Lucio noted that police did have several promising suspects, however could not release the names as of yet due to it being an active investigation.
