Bomb squad called in after Santa Muerte scare

News Staff Report

The Brownsville bomb squad had to be called in to San Benito Wednesday night after witnesses said they heard a strange ticking coming from a Santa Muerte statue in the middle of the street near Pennsylvania and Yost road
“The bomb squad placed a small detonator on it so they could blow it up themselves and take a look at it… afterwards it was easy to tell it was just a ceramic statue,” said SBPD Assistant Police Chief Michael Galvan.
