Plans to break ground on the long-awaited Resaca Walk have been slated for summer of 2015.

“We have some restaurants that are reviewing San Benito right now,” said Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Salomon Torres. “In general terms, we finished a Comprehensive Master Plan for the site. We have shown it, marketed it to prospects.”

According to Torres, several businesses are reviewing the master plan at this time, most of which are restaurants. “Of those businesses, 99 percent are restaurants, and one or two retailers have asked about the space,” he explained. A retail clothing store for women is reportedly considering opening a storefront on the Resaca Walk and at least one other San Benito locale.

“There are some other groups who have come forward,” said Torres. “I can’t identify who they are, but they would provide a service.”

Lets look for a moment at the previous projects the city is either currently involved in,or been involved with in the past, not a real good record, guys. Why does anybody in their sane mind think that they can make this Resaca project work.We have all seen how the politicians and chosen citizens benefit, and the town has a whole stays the same or even goes backward alittle more.Want to do something grand ? Well,go downtown and renovate,or try to fix up that area,no sense in making another little mini mess on the Resaca.
Do you really think people are going to travel from other valley towns to eat at one of these three cafes, that nobody will name, through streets that tear the front end of your car off,and if they do once,do you think they will return,to do it again ? The city has got a serious water plant problem, when word of this gets out,do you really think that people will enjoy sitting gazing out over the Resaca, and wondering if the water they are being served is safe to drink ?
No,the city needs to fix the streets and the water system problems before jumping into this pipe dream,it sounds almost like it was thought up by the same people who tried to hatch the Stonewall Jackson plot.
And here again, its not free because its done with government grant money, think about it,
