SAN BENITO, TX. – Juan Pablo Cornejo died Monday, December 29, 2014 at his residence in San Benito, surrounded by his family. He was 59. Juan was born on June 2, 1955 in Brownsville, Texas to his
parents, Pablo and Guadalupe Morales Cornejo. He proudly served his country as a Senior Airman in the United States Air Force. Playing and spending time with his grandchildren was his favorite pastime, and using his green thumb to beautify and work in his garden at home was a hobby he enjoyed doing very much. His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife of forty years, Mary F. Cornejo; children Christina P. Hutson, Juan P. Cornejo, Jr., Jenny M. Cornejo, Michael A. Cornejo, and James S. Cornejo; granddaughters Hannah Hutson, Anja Hutson, and Jenna Lopez; grandsons, Ruy Lopez and Aidan Cornejo; and siblings Leonor Cornejo-Castro, Elia Cornejo-Lopez, and David Cornejo. His son-in-law, Andy Albus, and daughter-in-law, Melissa Cornejo, also survive him.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2015, with a recitation of the holy rosary scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. Committal services will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Military honors will be conducted at the gravesite under the auspices of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2035 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Victor Cavazos, Joe Reyna, Willy Esparza, David Cornejo, Andy Albus, and Tony Esparza.
