Juanita A. Cortez, 88, of San Benito, Texas, entered into rest on Thursday, October 9, 2014 in Harlingen, Texas.

Juanita loved to play bingo and cook for her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and everyone that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Cortez; her parents, Baltazar and Rafaela A. Aleman; and siblings: Luis Aleman, Santos Aleman, Guadalupe Aleman, and Consuelo Garcia.

Juanita is survived by her children: Amelia (Raul) Torres, Gloria (Pablo, Jr.) Leija, Antonio (Benita) Cortez, Jr., Irma (Moises) Sauceda, Isabel Romero, Ramon Cortez, Arnoldo (Ernestina) Cortez, and Monica C. Treviño; 18 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Aurelio Aleman; and three sisters: Matilde Navarro, Andrea Aleman, and Nena Ortiz.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2014 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito, Texas. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
