It has been a little over a week since Wednesday, Jan. 29, when candidates began filing for races in the San Benito CISD and Cities of San Benito and Rio Hondo May general elections, and though activity has been minimal, there have been additional hopefuls who made their bids official.
According to San Benito City Secretary Lupita Passement, no new candidates have filed as of Friday. The only candidates that have filed as of presstime are the incumbents: Mayor Joe H. Hernandez, Place 1 City Commissioner Tony Gonzales and Pl. 2 Commissioner Rene Villafranco.

Hey, could someone tell Santiago Perez that, in his last letter to the editor regarding this issue, “low and behold” is incorrect. It’s “lo and behold”….not to mention all his other grammatical errors. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t run for office…. Just critiques those who do.
