The San Benito Consolidated Independent School District will enter the month of December on Monday officially under new leadership.
Dr. Ismael Cantu has been appointed the interim superintendent, replacing Alfonso Obregón whose contract expired Wednesday, Nov. 27, following a 4-1 vote of the SBCISD Board of Trustees at a special meeting Tuesday.
Cantu served as superintendent for the Santa Maria school district and is currently working as a consultant for campuses within the Robstown, San Antonio and Del Rio school districts.

What about our taxpayers money? More money down, down the drain.
Im sure he does if hes getting the same pay as the previous interim…
Dr. Cantu has been known to be a person of good character…. not sure how he is going to “fit” with those 4 who voted for him or how they even “found” him…..something does not smell right… very interesting that he is coming to SBCISD.
Those “4” are just passing time while they get their “friend” lined up… just wait and see.
Where is May 2014?
And that would be Joe D. I like him and did a good job when he was the Super… But I just do not like the way they are doing it. This is the motive to all the shananajans of this board. What a waste of taxpayers money when all they had to do is wait till the current’s contract expires.
Hope this poor sole knows what he’s getting into.
