A physical altercation reported Monday ended with the arrests of two San Benito women—one an elderly female and the other a candidate in the race for Precinct 3, Place 1 Justice of the Peace.

Assistant Operations Chief Michael Galvan of the San Benito Police Department confirmed Monday the arrests of Viola Horobetz, 71, and Mary Bradford Padilla, 57, for class “A” assault. The charge stems from a dispute over money and fishing poles, according to information provided by police and Padilla, who spoke candidly to the San Benito News on Tuesday about the incident.
