OLMITO – A former officer of the Rio Hondo Police Department was arrested in Houston Friday and will soon be transported into the custody of the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office on suspicions that he was involved in a recent burglary, Sheriff Omar Lucio confirmed at a press conference here.

Lucio announced on Friday that 26-year-old Ernesto Yanez, who until recently was employed as a police officer in Rio Hondo, was implicated in a burglary on Reynolds Avenue just outside city limits by 22-year-old Manuel Manzanarez, who Yanez had initially arrested for the crime.
