The San Benito CISD Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting Tuesday to possibly acquire the services of outside counsel to investigate suspended Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón.
Trustees were updated on the outcome of mediation held Tuesday between Limón and his attorney, Gus Acevedo, and school district legal counsel Tony Torres.

I hear at the board meeting tonight that “the man in the shirts” talked and talked.
Guess he likes hearing himself. If he thinks he has all the answers then HE NEEDS TO STAND UP AND RUN FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD. The value of my apartment complex is decreasing every day. We need people who can be positive role models run for school board. Is there anyone out there?
Thinking of positive ways to better the school is not on the agenda. When you have more then half the board that can’t seem to understand half the things that are going and some are more worried about answering texts is just ridiculous. I’m sure Limon has done alot of things wrong but do you really think having two superintendents and hiring a law firm when we have our own attorney is going to help the cause. They’ve taken most of his power away aren’t they still going to be in control anyway. They should consider using the money being wasted on things that teachers and students might benefit from.
Favoritism it’s still going on. Nothing has changed. So who do you blame now.
I understand when a teacher starts insulting and degrating kids they have no business teaching anymore. But it also falls on the principal for not reporting or doing anything about. It’s called having a backbone whether he/she is your friend or not and reporting it even if the board doesn’t agree with it. I also think that some of these board members need to tell their families the same thing. It’s called a backbone. Remember your the ones on the board and not your families.
Filli, What? Those 4 board members are clueless at board trainings that have been provided.
Even a respected TASB consultant came to SB and all they did was smack their gum and text on their phone.
This mess and I mean HUGE MESS was created by yliana and her followers.
You have 4 board members making deals after deals. Student success is not even on their list.
I hope this community gets UNITED because 2014 is waiting for a new slate of people ready to be A VOICE for all citizens. THOSE 4 DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME NOR MY TAX DOLLARS!!
And hopefully we won’t get the same people on the school board as the ones before this one because they never really did anything to help the school district progress even less than this one and more so than the one before that one. In order for the school district to rise above all this chaos is to be more proactive in the education of the school system as a whole, not only the students. It starts by having knowledgeable, strong leadership that can focus on the needs of the district and move it forward. Someone that actually knows what they are doing as a Superintendent and can make sound recommendations to the board, then have the board make informed decisions. You all are so worried about the four school members that you forget the true cause of the why our children struggle through high school and in college. I have to say that in 2008 while taking college classes the majority of SBCISD students were getting were in the 30’s and 40’s compared to passing scores of other students. Its a shame. And whether anyone wants to admit it or not, it falls back on Limon because he has been in control for many years. He even controlled the school board. So if you want to make a positive change then start where it needs to start and as for the school board, some training provided by the state should help them get on the right track. And if training is not provided by the state for them, then shouldn’t you all be petitioning the state to educate our school board members on their roles as soon as they are elected. Change… it doesn’t always have to be so negative and cutthroat just because you don’t like it. Think of positive ways to better the school.
That board president is beyond belief! Spending OUR TAX DOLLARS… Get a clue lady and bring the supt back!
Money, money, trips, trips, …. The famous four are also members of Mexican American School Board association, as well as members of Texas Association of School Boards… Just more travel, more 32 oz steaks for them and their family and relatives paid by the district and vendors that want them happy. My nephew tells me their children just brag away about those so called vacations they take. Well, it is just money. It would be nice if it was there money!
Yilana Gonzalez, June Aguilera and their two puppets wasting $28,690.00 a month for a puppet interim superintendent and Mr. Limon. In a six month period, that amount will come out to $172,140.00.
So, mom and dad! When your child wants to go on one of the very few field trips or a sports activity and the ask you to sell tickets or have a fundraiser? Now, you know why?
This CHUY person is a regular citizen like the rest of us. Mr. Limon just needs to stay there until they pay him everything he is asking for as those 4 are disrespectful to the tenth power.
By the way, hear the BOARD PRESIDENT was at MERCEDES looking for a job Soooo hope she got the job!
If you 2 board members are seeking re-election then let us know. 2014 is coming…..
Thank you Mr. Powell, well said, so glad you spoke up for our students and teachers and staff…..our school accomplishments should not be overlooked.
Mr . Dillon, you bring up several points which deserve a response. First, are you in a position to know what you are talking about? I actually am. I happen to have taught math there since August, 1992. I have taught over 2000 of the youth who call this community home. Have you observed my classes? Well? You will not see portable music devices being used. Will you hear the f-word in the hallway? Yup, you probably will. Will you hear it unchallenged in my room? Tell me, if you have witnessed it. No? Well, depending on its context (while never acceptable) the student who uses it may or may not receive a disciplinary referral. I do not allow that word to be bantered about unchallenged. Yes, repeated use of profanity will result in administrative disciplinary action. Pregnant 16-year-olds? Yup. But whose fault is that? The teachers? The administrators? Perhaps the cafeteria workers? The custodians? You have to blame someone. Tell me if you have an answer. Have you personally witnessed me teaching liberalism? I didn’t think so. This last year, there was only one senior in a graduating class of over 600 who didn’t pass the state’s TAKS exam. Just one! You didn’t mention that one. Why? Did you remember that over 90% of our juniors passed each TAKS exam. Didn’t mention that either. The state championship in chess two years in a row, the girls’ final four appearance in softball, and the list of successes goes on. Forget those, too? Well, possibly your assessment of San Benito High School is not accurate at all. You can be forgiven, since you weren’t there. But please don’t bad-mouth the educators, support personnel and students who have come so far and have done so well. Especially when, due to no fault of your own, you’re not in a position to really know what you’re talking about.
Chuy and his gang want a new superintendent before election time. They are afraid June and Julian will not get reelected. As long as Limon is there they can’t hire. So get rid of him at any cost is what Mr Chuy is pushing for. I hope Limon holds out so a more responsible board does hiring.
I would consider donating to a fund to investigate the school board members, their expense accounts while on “school business” . Lets shake their tree and see what skeletons fall out. They don’t want to buy Mr. Lemon out, but they are willing to spend twice as much to get dirt on him. The school board needs to stop embarrassing themselves and us and start thinking about the children.
If you start it I’ll Sign It!…
So then everyone can run the new board members over the coals like you all do every time a new member is elected. People like you are never happy with any changes, regardless of who it is. Let’s hope we get more caring members of the community to be on the school board and that they receive the appropriate direction on their responsibilities instead of following what others tell them to do.
What the people of San Benito need to do is get together and get these four members out of the board. I am pretty sure that the people of SB are more powerful then these people. PETITION TIME.
Probably going to be the same firm who did an investigation at a school
District down the road. More money spent just to get back at
mr. Limon…. When are those 4 going to stop draining our district funds?
We as taxpayers need to get TEA involved to investigate the four board members. I’ve already done so….maybe the four board members should request the SBPD to take on the investigation.
.that would be a total JOKE within itself…
so whatever happened to the investigation done by the DAs office? How much is this investigation going to cost tax payers? Why wasn’t Yliana ever investigated for the insurance letter scandal? I agree that there needs to investigating going on, but on the four incompetent board members!! My oh my…are things ever going to get better in San Benito?? I hope voters come out and vote Ylianas puppet board members that are up for election out in 2014!!
My question to those four so-called educated board members? What is your problem with Limon that you want to ruin his career? Your supposed to be setting the example for the SBCISD and the people who voted for you all? I very seriously doubt that your constituents wanted to type of “witch hunt” when they voted for you all? You four have wasted taxpayer monies for your own personal gratification. Wasn’t it enough that you suspended him prior to the graduation and embarrass him in front of his daughter and those graduating? You four are the “jaibas” that give those who want to serve the public a “bad name.” Do us all a favor and “grow up” and do your job to BETTER the SBCISD!
You must have a personal connection with Limon. His leadership has only served his ‘favorites’ and doomed those students and teachers that needed his help. After all, what kind of superintendent ignores when a student is told that a teacher has told a student that he ‘ought to be halo’d’ meaning that ‘the student should be put against the wall and shot over and over again”, allowed the same teacher to tell one of his students that she ‘will never amount to anything but a pole dancer’. These are only a couple of examples. I’m sure there are many more out there that haven’t been heard yet.
So are you saying this is okay with the community? Is that what you are saying? Many teachers see what goes on, but are afraid to speak up because they do not want problems or lose their jobs. And believe me when I say that he definitely should be investigated and parents, teachers and anyone else that has concerns should speak up. A true leader lifts his employees, helps them grow, provides direction, not threatens them with disciplinary action for reporting problems, issues, or concerns, like students with special needs being overlooked. He allowed his favorites to skip the chain of command and go to him directly but wasn’t consistent across the board. Instead of being proactive and provide assistance, he prefers to make threats and covers-up what he does by lying. It was time that someone stood up and said ‘enough’.
It is Limon that just needs to move on. He should just retire and enjoy his retirement instead of continuing to play the victim when he knows what he has done or has failed to do.
Could it be that the attorney torres is asking the Board to hire another law firm because he has ZERO SCHOOL LAW EXPERIENCE? Rodriguez knew exactly what SHE ND HER FOLLWERS were doing when they hired him and sent O’Hanlon packing. Superintendent to be… Yeah coming around the corner.
Do those 4 board members have NO SHAME! Spending our tax dollars … Just pay Mr. Limon his money and let us all move on. Those 4 members have made this board the laughing stock of the state and we, as San Benito citizens, just let it happen. UNBELIEVABLE! By the way, how did it go for the LOS FRESNOS ELEM PRINCIPAL Board president who was looking for A JOB IN Mercedes ….be careful what you believe to be true and telling everyone in January about the job
