The San Benito Lady ’Hounds softball team has made history yet again, and the season isn’t over yet.
No pressure, right?
“You don’t even have time to think about (the pressure) because there is so much paperwork to do,” said Lady ’Hounds coach Elias Martinez on Monday. “I never imagined it was going to be this much of a headache, and not on the field, we’re talking about off the field. There are deadlines for this, deadlines for that. It’s hectic. We’re just enjoying it right now. This is paperwork that’s a handful, but it’s paperwork that I’m glad to be doing. Just to have this opportunity, it’s something that we gladly do.”
The plethora of paperwork Martinez needs to fill out leading up to Friday’s state semifinal matchup—a first for a Rio Grande Valley high school varsity softball club—against Lewisville is but one aspect of the preparations the coach needs to make.
