Tommy Castro, a sixth grader at Miller Jordan Middle School, has been invited to attend Football University, which is an invitation only event hosted by National Football League players and coaches.

The camp will be held in San Antonio March 15-17 for 100 outstanding athletes selected from throughout the state to participate. Officials there have scouts and recruiters present that are keeping a close eye the athletes. They work with athletes on a one-to-one basis to make sure that he gets into a great college when he becomes a junior in high school.

“I believe this invitational camp will benefit my son (and provide him) with more knowledge as well as possibly get him into a great college in the near future,” said his father, Eddie Castro.

The athlete was named Running Back of the Year by his organization and was one of two running backs in the league to rush for over 1,100 yards. He was also selected to go play in the All-Star game that took place in the Alamodome, were he was chosen as a starter and worked with his teammates to beat San Antonio, 52-6.

The family is currently securing sponsorships to help defray costs associated with the camp. For additional information, contact Eddie Castro at jcast0518@yahoo.com or call him at (956) 832-3490.
