Martha Booth Gause

SAN BENITO–Martha Booth Gause, 95, passed away on December 30, 2012 at Golden Palms Retirement & Health Center in Harlingen.

Gause was born in Henry County, Tennessee on August 20, 1917 to V.V. and Era Mar Rouron. The family moved to Monroe, Louisiana in 1924. She graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe in 1935 and attended the Monroe Branch of Louisiana State University for a year. The family moved to La Feria in 1937. She worked for the First National Bank of Harlingen, the San Benito Chamber of Commerce and Central Power and Light.

She married Nueman L. Boothe in 1938, who died in 1948. She married Bob M. Gause in 1965.

Gause was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob Gause of 35 years, and also her sisters: Christine Voight, Pauline Niles and Virginia Moore.

She is survived by her son Fred (Carol) Booth of Alexandria, Virginia and step-daughter Geri (Bill) Todd of Victoria. Also surviving are grandchildren: Ann (Jon) Park of Seattle, Washington; and James Booth of Lynchburg, Virginia; niece Suzanne (Will) Davis of Austin, nephews John (Hoal) Sommer of Spring and Larry (Caren) Cobb of Edna, and step-grandchildren Dr. Robb Todd of New York City, Gretchen Todd of Seattle, Washington; Wes (Tammy) Todd of Austin and Gayle (Rene) Salmond of Houston.

Viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m;. on Wednesday at Henry Thomae Funeral Home, 701 North Bowie, San Benito.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.

Thanks to caregivers Josie Gonzles, Olivia Vela, and Janie Rodriguez, as well as the staff at Golden Palms Retirement & Health Center for the kindness and care they gave her through the years at Golden Palms.

Services are entrusted to the Henry Thomae Funeral Home, Bowie St., 399-9992.
