emergency-lightsExtra precautions are currently being taken today at San Benito High School after rumors have circulated on Facebook of a possible gun threat.

San Benito CISD Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón said the reported threat originated “on Facebook yesterday (Wednesday),” when a student happened to have been the only witness to overhear a potential gun threat. The student started a panic by putting what they heard on Facebook.”

Limón further explained, “People are concerned right now because of what happened in Connecticut…but it’s always good to follow-up on these things.”

The superintendent shared that he had just been inside the school’s master control room where video surveillance is working overtime in every school within the district. He said, “In the master control room, we can view every hallway, every entrance to every school, etc. Everything is under control.”

You don’t speak out to the public what specific security tools you have in place or at your disposal to protect your students and staff.

Bad guys also have access to all kinds of media.

Just make a general statement that all necessary measures are in place to protect all the students and staff.
