Law enforcement authorities have confirmed that San Benito CISD Board President Yliana G. Rodriguez filed a police report Wednesday accusing fellow Board Member Anna Cruz of class C assault, a misdemeanor.
Officials said Thursday that Rodriguez filed the report with school district police on Wednesday. Initially, Rodriguez tried filing charges against Cruz with the San Benito Police Department but was informed that because the alleged assault occurred on school district property that it would be a matter for SBCISD officers to investigate.
The San Benito News is currently awaiting response to a public records request filed Thursday for the report in question.
According to authorities, Rodriguez is accusing Cruz of misdemeanor assault that allegedly took place at a recent school district workshop.
Attempts to reach Cruz and Rodriguez for comment have been unsuccessful; however, it should be noted that said board members were scheduled to participate in board meetings this evening.

How does anyone expect for this BOARD to sit down and work together agaiin. Mrs. Rodriguez knows exactly what she is doing. Mrs. RODRIGUEZ is TRYING TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THE LETTER SHE HAD MRS. GONZALEZ WRITE! It is not going to work, MRS. RODRIGUEZ. INVESTIGATE THAT BOARD PRESIDENT, PLEASE!!
These two idiots should be taken off the board they are an embarrassment to the community.
Parent: You have a point but I am also a parent and I do know her personally but maybe not as much as you do and I always thought highly of her also but come on, she has not made the best decisions also and you know what your right it wont matter if she cares for my vote but I feel that it is so embarrassing that our district is a circus; understand I am also blaming our board president, she is never available for comment, but there is more to this drama and I am sure it will come out but if these two ladies are at a point of filing charges at each other -its time for both of them to step down. I have sat down with her on a concern but I will stop there. GOD IS GOOD and we just need to unite as a community and bring our district back…
Isn’t it interesting how all drama throught the SB Board of Trustees somehow has Yliana Rodriguez involved. Yet she never is “available for comment” in anything.
Wow!!! Is there any wonder left where the dysfunction begins. Now, these are people charged with making decisions that involve millions of dollars and many, many children. Their behavior is outrageous. Laughing stock of the valley. Really makes someone think and say, geez, San Benito, that’s where I wanna be, that’s where my children should be educated. Like always, these are tiny insignificant fish swimming in a tiny little pond. Oh, and by the way, let’s not forget our city leaders. But then, that’s another story.
What agenda against the board president. She gets into these messes herself she doesn’t need anyones help. I know Ms. Cruz is trying to work together with everyone and that’s ok if you decide not to vote for her. It’s not like she’ll lose sleep over it. Just because you don’t vote like the majority of the board doesn’t mean you can’t be civil with that person anymore or your already taking side. That’s ridiculous! I don’t think Ms. Cruz needs anyones approve to vote on her behalf. She can make up her own mind without being influence by anyone especially when it comes to a personal vendetta and looking out for the benefit of the employees. You agree to disagree and you don’t dis that person because of that. Ms. Cruz wants the school to be on top that’s why she ran and got elected. Why would she vote against an incentive when she herself was a former educator, librarian and administrator. She is trying to work together for the better of the school district. You should give her a call, sit down an talk to her and find out what she’s really all about. God is Good! As for the charge this too shall pass…
Come on people-if I was assaulted or any of you-you all would be the first to file a complaint..I blame ALL the school board members for this mess, even Medrano, Cruz, Leal. We need to work together, and good for the board president to file charges-you know the same people that make comments against board president also have an agenda-shame on you all-You are not looking out for the interest of the district only one side…and next election I will not vote for Medrano or Cruz or Leal like I did in the past elections-STOP BLAMING EACH OTHER AND GET TO WORK AND BRING SBCISD BACK ON TOP….
Let’s see now . . if you “blame ALL the school board members” for this mess, and you will not vote for Medrano, Cruz and Leal, evidently you also will not vote for the other four. Correct? In addition, the key word on Rodriguez’s claim of being assaulted is “if.” There is a claim that Rodriguez was assaulted, while others claim that she was NOT. IOh, what a tangled web we weave when . . .

Off topic, but Didnt this SBCISD BOARD just try to raise taxes BECAUSE THEY WERE STATING THEIR “SURPLUS” WAS LOW and BY STATE RULES THEY WOULD BE OUT OF COMPLIANCE ?? BUT THEY SUDDENLY ARE FLUSHED WITH MONEY TO GIVE PAYRAISES WITHOUT TAXING US? ? IT SOUNDS LIKE WE WERE GETTING OUR EYES”POKED.”

OMG!! This is the same Yliana Rodriguez who got $1500 bonus in Los Frensos while the support staff got $800. Then she comes over here and supports giving our teachers the same bonus as the janitors. Why didn’t she give back $700 so she could be equal to the janitors in Los Fresnos? Now she takes a discussion between two board members to the extreme by filing assault charges. Wow, does she actually think that the board can work together after that? Teacher morale will hit bottom with this insult. But, you know what? They are probably the same ones who voted for these board members… They are getting what they voted for…. Insults from the ghetto people they put in office. Because, I know that if the teachers had united like the maintenance and transportation and security guards did tonight, they could have defeated these Huertas, June and Yliana. Unprofessional people making decisions over professionals. I hope Mr Limon realizes his is also to blame for this mess……. He knows what he and his wife did in the election too. And by the ways, Yliana makes the rules for everyone else’s kids, but not hers. What an embarrassment this district has become.
You gotta be kidding me…only in San Benito. It sometimes seems as if the youth are more capable of running the town instead of our elected officials.
Why is Rodriguez still the board president? Something is not right here, investigate her.
What is wrong with that board president? How in the world did she get elected? Mrs. Cruz is a classy lady and that board president has no class at all. INVESTIGATE, INVESTIGATE, INVESTIGATE THAT BOARD PRESIDENT!!
