Early voting begins Monday for this year’s election cycle and ends November 2.
Polling places in San Benito are at the Community Building, located on 210 E. Heywood St., and Riverside Middle School, located on 35428 Padilla St. Voters can also cast their ballot at the Los Fresnos Community Building, located on 204 N. Brazil, and in Rio Hondo at the Rio Hondo ISD Administrative Building, located on 215 Colorado.
The San Benito and Los Fresnos Community Building polling places will be open from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 22 thru the 26th; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Oct. 27, and 9 a.m.-7 p.m. from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2. At Riverside Middle School and the Rio Hondo ISD Administrative Building, polls will be open from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 and Oct. 22 to the 24, respectively.
Running for U.S. Congress District 34 is Republican Jessica Puente Bradshaw and Democrat Filemon Vela.
Vying for the Cameron County Sheriff’s office is incumbent and Democratic candidate Omar Lucio versus Republican Jimmy Manrrique.
The Cameron County District Attorney’s office is being challenged by Republican Chuck Mattingly, who faces Democrat Luis V. Saenz.
County Commissioner Precinct 3 incumbent and Democratic candidate David Garza will run against Republican Manuel Abrego.
The Office of Tax Assessor and Collector for Cameron County will have incumbent Democrat Tony Yzaguirre, Jr. vying against Republican Moses Sorola.
Cameron County Constable Precinct 3 incumbent Jose Cavazos will run against Republican Robert Lopez, whose incumbent Pct. 4 office (in the Rio Hondo area) has been consolidated with Cavazos’ Pct. 3 jurisdiction.
