Torres named new EDC director

City of San BenitoAt Tuesday’s meeting of the San Benito City Commission, it was announced that the San Benito Economic Development Corporation (EDC) recommended former congressional candidate Solomon Torres as the new EDC director, an available position budgeted for the 2012-2013 general fund budget.

Torres, a native of La Feria, is considered a man of extensive education. Of his educational history, Torres said, “I earned degrees at St. Edward’s University (BBA), the LBJ School of Public Affairs (MPA) and Columbia Law School (JD) in New York.”

City Manager Manuel Lara explained, “[Torres] used to be the EDC director for the City of San Benito about 10 years ago. I know he worked on grants for the Resaca Trail, and he went to work with the Congressman Rubén Hinojosa.”
