SBHS tennis team surging

HoundsThe San Benito High School varsity tennis team defeated PSJA High Tuesday night, 11-8.

The win gave the Greyhounds a record of 5-2 in District 31-5A play.

The Greyhounds face Weslaco High next Tuesday for a chance to go to the regional tournament.

The seniors completed another impressive job pulling off a close win in district play. On the girls side. Cristina Estrella provided leadership in a come-from-behind victory with freshmen Sierra Hyde at #2 girls’ doubles. And Brittany Mendez and Astrid Gonzalez pulled off another double win in both singles and doubles.

Esteban Casas won at #3 boys’ singles, and David Mendoza pulled off another double win in doubles and singles.
