The fate of the property formally known as Dolly Vincent Memorial Hospital is still up in the air as the Cameron County Commissioners Court were deadlocked Thursday in a 2-2 vote on the decision to accept bids for the building.

The decision to accept the lower of two bids, $286,000, was opposed by the leaders despite the City of San Benito and San Benito CISD giving prior approvals of the aforementioned amount. County officials were specifically in disagreement as to the bid amount, with Judge Carlos Cascos and Commissioner Sofia Benavides expressing concern with accepting the lowest bid while Commissioners David Garza and Dan Sanchez sympathized with the plight of moving forward to get the hospital back on the tax roll.
