The San Benito Chamber of Commerce held a much-anticipated ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the official grand opening of Walgreens in San Benito.

The event was held on Tuesday, October 9. Among those in attendance were City Manager Manuel Lara, Mayor Joe H. Hernandez, City Commissioner Tony Gonzales, San Benito CISD Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón, members of the Chamber of Commerce, school district, Rotary Club and other dignitaries. Evan Anaya, manager of the Harlingen Walgreens store on Harrison, came out to show his support. He said, “I’m very happy there is a Walgreens in San Benito now. Our (Harlingen) customers have been asking for years if one would be built here. Now, residents of San Benito will not have to drive to Harlingen to come to Walgreens.”

Another Harlingen Walgreens store manager, Mike Su of the Tyler location, came out to say, “Congratulations on a nice-looking store.”

Congratulations to Walgreen for their Grandopeing

  1. I visited Walgreens to price some itiems and Malmart and HEB are still better deals. Same products lower prices. I wonder if Walmart and HEB people go there to look around go back to thier stores and also show Walgreens thier support? Any way more important is hopeing Walgreens is here to stay. If they need any advance on longivity they may want to go speak to the KFC people up the road. Make us proud Walgreens!

I agree about price, But when your in line with only 5 items at walmart or HEB paying a few cents more at Walgreens is worth it. Its better than wait at the other two for them to open up another lane. ,,
