October 2 marks the sixth annual National Night Out for the City of San Benito, an event designed to bring the city’s emergency responders and citizens together for an evening of fun.
Hosted by San Benito Police and Fire Departments, National Night Out strives to make kids aware that law enforcement agents are here to help, not harm, while exposing the kids to potential after school interests that might prompt them to stay away from drugs and gang-related activities.
“The kids come out with their families and meet the police,” said SBPD Detective Oscar Leal. “We make the kids aware about drugs and gangs.”
