investigationJanie Gonzalez is still fighting for her former job of 18 years as risk manager with the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District, and it is possible that she will take her Level 3 grievance up to the penultimate Level 4 within the next 10 business days.

To backtrack, Gonzalez alleges that School Board President Yliana G. Rodriguez requested that Gonzalez draft a letter, on school district letterhead, mandating an immediate change in insurance providers for SBCISD. Gonzalez said in a phone interview with the News on Monday, September 24, “I was doing what I was told to do by the board president.”

In her grievance, Gonzalez claims, “I believe that my termination culminated from facts and circumstances beginning with the school board president directing me to prepare a letter terminating the existing insurance agent for the school district and replacing him with another person/company.”

This whole fiasco reads as if the actions of two individuals were revealed before they could be completed. Do you still wonder how it is that one person who has been in education for the majority of her life still does not understand the pecking order when conducting school business? Do you not wonder how another person who has worked within an educational environment still does not understand the pecking order? No sir, something, perhaps a scam, fell apart before it was able to get off the ground.

Ex Risk Manager Fires Back? Are you kidding me! This lady keeps digging her own hole. And now she is even calling the superintendent a liar! Accept that you messed up and move on!! And you would think that after 18 years on the job this lady would be smart enough to know not to take orders from the president. YLIANA IS NOT THE SUPERINTENDENT! It is obvious this lady has no respect for her boss and feels she is invincible. The bottom line is that this lady lied about her involvement and circumvented the superintendent. Those are clear grounds for TERMINATION if you ask me. I hope this school board is smart enough to see through her petty story and uphold her termination. This lady needs to let it go before more skeletons from her so called 18 years of service come back to haunt her. TALK ABOUT NO HONOR!!!
