City of San BenitoFor the City of San Benito, fiscal year 2012-2013 will see a near $100,000 hike in legal service fees for the police, fire and city management departments.

The extra $93,908 in legal fees can be broken down by department. This year, the city management budget increases by $28,000, from last year’s $24,000 to this year’s $52,000. The San Benito Police Department will see a rise from last year’s $25,000 to this year’s $65,908, which is an additional $40,908. Last year’s San Benito Fire Department budget of $15,000 will be raised from $25,000 to $40,000.

On why such an increase in funding for legal services was necessary to budget, City Manager Manuel Lara and Operations Chiefs Raul Zuniga and Martin Morales of the fire and police departments, respectively, were candid in their response.

  1. Legal services. Who’s on stage and who is the audiance? Whats the theme? Some poeple look for answers looking far into the horizon when thier answer if right there infront of thier toes. Lots to do and citizens and city departments to look out for. Citizens relied on to make it all happen Follow it as if you were an elected offical because they next city commssioner, mayor, or city manager may be you. It’s your city folks take care of it and watch over it. Our children may go off to college and move away but one thing we will be sure of is that citizens and leaders who where born and raised and live here are always going to be looked up to to make the town a better place for those new genertions who are already liveing here and for those who decide to come to SB and live. Get involved your city offical are open to everyone and everybody support thier effrots in an honest way and maybe the effects will be rewarding to them and confidence will bestow the city. Time is all we have.
