Is San Benito being pulled into the new Millennium? With proposed Information Technology expenditures up from 2011-2012’s approved $334,572 to this year’s $483,542, it appears that strides are being made for the direction of the future.
For those San Benitians whose best subject is not math, that’s a hike of nearly $150,000.
This very elevated budget increase, according to City Manager Manuel Lara, is due (at least in part) to the city’s need of a new phone system. The city’s current phone system, Lara said, “consists of only four phone lines.”
Lara added, “This makes it very difficult to serve the needs of citizens” who call the city with important questions or concerns.

Can somebody show me records of how many citizens call with questions and concerns to suggest we have a probelm with to many phone calls not being answered? And how many phone “systems” does it take to be able to answer a phone call? One for city hall one for the police dept. one for the fire depatment, and one for the maintance dept. who else needs a phone “system”? maybe a phone system for citizens important questions and concerns line? What is an “important question” or ‘concerns” citizens would call about besides dialing 911? Has any citizens complained about the cities phone lines?
