For 53 hopeful men and women vying for the same entry level police officer position with the San Benito Police Department, September 7 is the day to report bright-and-early for phase two of the hiring process.

The department “has begun the call back process,” said Assistant Police Chief of Operations Michael Galvan.

“Of the 93 [individuals] who tested for the position, 53 passed,” Galvan said.

These 53 will be invited to complete standard tests to measure physical fitness, currently scheduled for September 7. The first part of the physical fitness testing includes a mile-long run. Those who successfully complete that task will work towards an agility test.
